FAQ
How are your dresses made?
Every Mary Benson piece is made to order rather than mass produced. We are a very small team, and each garment is thoughtfully cut, sewn and finished one at a time, allowing every piece to receive the care and attention it deserves.
Where are your products made?
Every order begins in Yorkshire, where Mary designs, illustrates and hand-cuts each garment in her studio. Each piece is then carefully sewn by Giovanna in her own Yorkshire workshop.
Mary's signature prints are illustrated in-house before being printed onto natural cloth in London, while our printed accessories and homewares are carefully finished by Mary in the studio.
Do you hold stock?
We very rarely hold sstock. Most Mary Benson pieces are made especially to order. Only sample sale items and selected archive pieces are ready to ship.
Each product description will clearly state whether an item is in stock or made especially for you.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Sample sale pieces are usually dispatched within a few working days.
As every made-to-order piece is created especially for you, please allow up to 4 weeks for your garment to be carefully crafted and dispatched. We often complete orders sooner, but allowing this time ensures every piece receives the care and attention it deserves.
Estimated lead times can always be found on the individual product page.

How do I know which size to order?
Every product page includes a size guide based on the finished garment measurements, making it easy to compare with a favourite piece you already own.
If you're between sizes or unsure which will suit you best, please do get in touch before ordering. We'll be delighted to help you choose the most suitable size.
Can you make custom alterations?
Where possible, yes.
We love helping customers create something that feels truly special!
We can often make small alterations to our existing designs, such as adjusting skirt lengths, sleeve styles or fabric choices.
As every alteration requires additional time and craftsmanship, a small alteration fee may apply depending on the changes requested. We'll always discuss any additional costs with you before any work begins.
While we don't currently offer bespoke sizing or garments made from entirely new patterns, we're always happy to discuss custom requests before you order. If you have something in mind, please get in touch and we'll let you know what's possible.
Can I visit your studio or arrange a fitting?
We do not have a public studio or shop, so fittings and visits are not available at this time.
If you'd like help choosing the right size, we're always happy to guide you through taking your own measurements at home. Alternatively, many local alterations shops and seamstresses offer professional measuring services, which can be especially helpful if you're ordering a custom piece.
Simply send us your measurements before ordering and we'll do our very best to advise on the most suitable size and fit.
How should I care for my dress?
Care instructions are included with every garment. Following these guidelines will help your piece stay beautiful for years to come.
Will sold-out styles return?
SSometimes.
We occasionally re-release favourite designs or bring back pieces from our archives. However, many collections are produced using limited-run or deadstock fabrics that can no longer be sourced, making each one all the more special.
Joining our mailing list is the best way to hear about new collections, limited editions and returning favourites.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide.
Shipping costs and estimated delivery times are calculated automatically at checkout based on your location.
Will I have to pay customs charges?
International customers may be responsible for customs duties, taxes, or import fees charged by their country. These charges are not included in our prices.
How can I contact you?
The best way to reach us is by email at customerservice@marybenson.london.

Is your packaging sustainable?
We do our best to use packaging that is recyclable, reusable, or made from recycled materials wherever possible, while still ensuring your order arrives safely.
We also believe that beautiful clothing doesn't need excessive packaging or unnecessary extras. Rather than adding extra decorative packaging for the sake of it, we focus on keeping our packaging practical, thoughtful, and as low-waste as possible.
